Cure PSP“CurePSP is dedicated to increasing awareness of progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), corticobasal degeneration (CBD), and related brain diseases; advancing research toward cure and prevention; educating healthcare professionals; and providing support, education and hope for affected persons and their families. PSP and CBD are neurodegenerative brain diseases that have no known cause, treatment or cure. They affect nerve cells that control walking, balance, mobility, vision, speech, and swallowing. Five to six people per 100,000 will develop PSP. CBD affects an estimated 2000-3000 people in United States, of whom only 500-750 are diagnosed.” In this charity, 90.8 percent of revenue collected goes toward contributions, gifts, and grants. Although its fundraising expenses and efficiency can be improved, they are still significantly better compared to other charities. CurePSP’s expenses are split 76.1 percent program expenses, 9.6 percent administrative expenses, and 14.3 percent fundraising. With its excellent transparency, it is clear this charity is aware of its areas in which it can improve and is persevering to do so. Overall, this charity wisely divides its expenses in a way where revenue increases but places in need are receiving almost as much money as they are able to give. Its accountability and transparency are an obvious highlight that, compared to other charities, are exceptional. Hannah P. Charity Navigator (Aug. 2016).
